Saanen dairy goats are renowned for their exceptional milk production, calm temperament, and elegant, pure-white appearance. Originating in Switzerland, they are the largest of the dairy breeds and are known for their steady, dependable lactations and strong, well-attached mammary systems. Gentle, intelligent, and easy to handle, Saanens are ideal for both commercial dairies and family homesteads. Their hardiness and adaptability make them a favorite worldwide, and their striking presence continues to excel in show rings across the country.

Both sides of Lydia’s pedigree have many consecutive generations of Permanent Champions, appraisal scores 90 or higher and a couple of Premier Sires. She is just as pretty as her pedigree. Lydia takes my breath away! She is a big girl with lots of bone and lots of substance. Lydia has an amazing udder! She has a high, wide rear, a strong medial, and a very long, very smooth fore udder.
Lydia was shown in 2021. She earned a milking leg as Grand Champion Saanen and also earned Best Udder in Show at the Carrollton show, which had over 600 entries. It was a very exciting day!
Lydia is a coming 8 year old and that udder is still right where it needs to be. It is so rewarding as a breeder to see a doe who is fabulous as a young doe and still in the working herd proving her worth as an aged doe. We have kept her 2024 buck kid, Cousin Leonard, to spread Lydia’s strength and style throughout our herd.
